House Project – Part 2

At the end of my last blog, we had left the house project looking like this.

Just a lot of lines, looking like a badly laid out grid! Thanks to the power of the Trim and Offset commands and some patience, our drawing now looks like this!

As you can see, it is starting to look like a house plan! Next step is to add in some doors. I already have a block of a standard internal door, so I’ll just use the Insert command, select the block and insert it into my drawing.

As you can see, I’ve now inserted the doors into my drawings and trimmed the lines to make the door opes.

It really is beginning to take shape now!

Next up are the windows.  I also have blocks made for windows, so again, it is just a case of inserting them into the drawing in the correct positions.

So far, so good.  Next week we will concentrate on adding Room Names and inserting the House Plan onto a Map.

The first time I used CAD, it was on a DOS PC with an 8088 processor, 640K of memory and a Hercules Mono Graphics Card... That, well that was a long long time ago. I switched to DraftSight the day it was released and haven't looked back!
