Solidworks World 2018 – Day 3 Part 1

Well, it’s the last day of SOLIDWORKS World 2018.  But just because it is the last day and we were all out partying last night over at LA Live, that doesn’t mean we are winding down, oh no, no chance of that!

Last nights party at LA Live was a small, quite affair…

As always, first up on the agenda is the General Session at 8:30am  in South Hall K.  The last two General Sessions have been phenomenal, showing us all the great new features and tools on the way from SOLIDWORKS. We’ve also enjoyed some brilliant and passionate speakers and there’s no doubt that today will build on that!

CEO of Solidworks, Gian Paolo Bassi, wants Solidworks to become the ‘Amazon for Engineers all over the world”.

“Everyone knows what to do in a room full of lasers…” Brent Bushnell of Two Bit Circus.

“Let’s all dream big” – Bernard Charlès

We’ve also had some great DraftSight Sessions.  On Monday, Vivek gave an excellent session on using the DraftSight API to customise DraftSight 2018.

On Tuesday, we had Wai-Ming and Marco show us the new features in DraftSight 2018.  I said it previously, even a long term DraftSight user like myself learned some new tips and tricks!

Our DraftSight Sessions culminate today at 2:45pm in Room 411 with the “DraftSight Essentials: DraftSight for the AutoCAD user” session.  If you’ve ever had any doubts on whether the switch from AutoCAD to DraftSight would be difficult, this session will put those doubts to rest very quickly!

As with all the other DraftSight Sessions, we will be streaming this session live on Twitter and Facebook.

Keep posting on all your social media accounts and don’t forget to use the hashtag #SWW18 when tweeting about SOLIDWORKS World 2018.

The first time I used CAD, it was on a DOS PC with an 8088 processor, 640K of memory and a Hercules Mono Graphics Card... That, well that was a long long time ago. I switched to DraftSight the day it was released and haven't looked back!
