DraftSight: List and Hide

Visit DraftSight.com to explore DraftSight 2019 and learn how you can experience the freedom to do more with a better 2D drafting and 3D design experience.

As I mentioned last blog, having the ability to narrow down objects in your drawing window ensures the clarity needed for accurate and satisfactory designs. So, continuing the theme of manipulating DraftSight’s layer and separation features, this blog highlights the List and Hide functions.

The List feature acts as an informant that reveals details about any selected entity in your drawing. It’s activated by typing List into the command window and then specifying your entity in question. After pressing enter, a window pops up listing qualities of that entity, including its Mode, Layer, LineColor, Location, and more.

I find the List operation most convenient when I’ve forgotten which layer an entity belongs to and I want to isolate it for revisions.

Pro tip: typing Get Properties into the command window will achieve the same result as List.

Lastly, the Hide operation does exactly what its name suggests – it hides portions of your drafts from view. Simply type the function into the command window, press enter, and drag a box over the section of your design that you’d like to disappear.

I’ve found that using the Hide and Isolate features interchangeably gives me the best mobility and precision while drafting.

As always DraftSight makes it super easy to unhide your entities at any time – just use the Unisolate Entities command, as discussed last post.

I hope this blog enhances your productivity and exactness with List and Hide!
