DraftSight: Let’s talk Paste as Block
Visit DraftSight.com to explore DraftSight 2019 and learn how you can experience the freedom to do more with a better 2D drafting and 3D design experience.
Recently, when I was browsing the DraftSight YouTube channel, I was introduced to the Paste as Block function, which has quickly become one of my go-to operations.
As previously mentioned, DraftSight features that make drawing less time consuming and tedious are my favorite to discover – and Paste as Block is just that.
Located under the Insert tab in the Clipboard section of the ribbon, the Paste icon displays a drop down menu when selected. The Paste as Block option is the third available choice, and effortlessly inserts copied entities into your drawing window as blocks.
This not only expedites the block creation process, but also protects from potential mistakes when pasting copies of detailed objects into your designs.
The feature is activated by first selecting the entities you want to duplicate, and then typing Copy@ into the command line. You’ll then be prompted to specify a reference point, which is where your block will lie in relation to your cursor.
Lastly, select the Paste as Block option from the ribbon, and voila! You can position your newly created block anywhere you’d like, and press enter to continue generating duplicates.
I hope this post encourages you to use Paste as Block in your DraftSight drawing process!
