DraftSight: Status-Bar Star Pt. 4
Visit DraftSight.com to explore DraftSight 2019 and learn how you can experience the freedom to do more with a better 2D drafting and 3D design experience.
There are two icons in the Status-Bar left to cover, and thankfully both of them have DraftSight YouTube tutorials explaining their step-by-step functionality and benefits.
More specifically, this post will be focusing on the Quick Input feature, which is located to the right of the Dimension Bounding Box icon (discussed in last blog).
Like most options in the Status-Bar, Quick Input enhances your DraftSight experience by increasing your efficiency and productivity. It does this by allowing you to enter values directly into your display window while drawing, rather than having to manually enter them into the command window each time.
By simply by selecting its icon in the Status-Bar, Quick Input will be turned on, and a coordinate input box will appear next to your cursor when you draw.
The input box will consist of two sections, and initially, the X and Y values of your first point will be displayed in separate sections. Once you’ve typed your preferred X value into the first section, press tab, and you’ll have access to enter your Y value into the second section.
Then press enter, and your input box will be reset to specify your next vertex, radius, or through point, depending on what you’re drawing.
If you’re drawing a rectangle, the next point’s input box would hold the distance between your first two points in one section, and the angle you want to draw at in the other. Repeat these steps another three times, and your rectangle will be complete!
Keep in mind that when drawing any shape, DraftSight’s command window will prompt you with what to enter in your input box, so you’ll never be caught in the dark.
I hope this post encourages you to turn on your Quick Input icon to speed up your drawing experience!
