DraftSight: Status-Bar Star Pt. 5
Visit DraftSight.com to explore DraftSight 2019 and learn how you can experience the freedom to do more with a better 2D drafting and 3D design experience.
Last but not least, this post will be covering the TBLayers icon – finishing up the blogs on the Status-Bar. Similar to the previous Status-Bar icons, this function enhances your DraftSight experience by increasing your time efficiency, and reducing your error vulnerability.
However, it’s unique in the sense that it effects which layers your entities are drawn on. More specifically, the TBLayers icon allows you to appoint certain default layers to the different entities in your designs.
This means that when activated, you won’t have to manually switch between layers each time you change entity type, because they’ll already be set to your preferred tiers.
Simply select the TBLayers icon to activate the feature, and then right click to reveal a drop-down menu. Press the Settings… option to open the Toolbox window, and you’ll be presented with a list of DraftSight entities and their default layers.
By changing the Layer Name of any Entity Type, and pressing OK, the new layer you chose will become that entity type’s default layer.
For example, if you know you’re going to add dimensions to your draft, you could change the Dimension Entity Type’s layer name to a layer called Dimension. Then, every time you insert a new dimension into your drawing, it will automatically reside in the Dimension layer.
In this sense, the TBLayers feature allows you to easily manipulate multiple layers, keeping your drawings organized and increasing productivity.
I hope this post encourages you incorporate the TBLayers icon in your daily drafting!
