DraftSight: Write Loads with Text Codes

Visit DraftSight.com to explore DraftSight 2019 and learn how you can experience the freedom to do more with a better 2D drafting and 3D design experience.

Continuing the theme of using shortcuts in DraftSight, today’s blog will be exposing hidden text codes that save time and increase efficiency while including Notes in your drawings.

Similar to activating features using keyboard commands or function keys, text codes expedite the process of inserting various symbols and font characteristics into your designs.

More specifically, by just typing a text code into a Note in your DraftSight workspace, it will activate its designated character or function in your text box right away.

Starting with typing the text code %%U into a SimpleNote, this will make your following text underlined. Likewise, using the same procedure, but entering the code %%O, your text will be over-lined.

The last three text codes insert commonly used symbols, increasing clarity and quickening your labeling process.

Starting with the code %%P, when entered it becomes a Plus/Minus Symbol (±). And finally, the code %%D inserts a Degrees Symbol (°), and the code %%C inserts a Diameter symbol (⌀).

As always, I hope this post encourages you to speed up and enhance your DraftSight experience using text codes!
