Dimension Palette in DraftSight Professional
Visit DraftSight.com to learn how you can experience the freedom to do more with a better 2D drafting and 3D design experience.
Today’s blog will be covering another time-saving feature in DraftSight Professional, known as the Dimension Palette.
This handy tool allows you to quickly edit dimensions in your designs after they’ve already been drawn. I find this especially convenient, because it keeps me from having to revert back to my Properties Palette every time I need to make a minor revision.
By default, your Dimensions Palette should be activated – if not, simply select the Options icon in the Manage tab of the ribbon. This will open an Options window where you can specify User Preferences and click on the Drafting Options tab. From there, just press Dimension Palette, check the Enable dimension palette box, and you’ll be good to go!
Pro tip: inside your Dimension Palette options, you can change the location of where your favorite dimension text configurations are saved, by editing your Favorite library path.
Now that you’ve made sure that your Dimensions Palette is enabled, you can access it by selecting any dimension, and clicking on the dimension icon (that instantly pops up).
Inside your Dimensions Palette, DraftSight Professional allows you to add Prefix Text, Above Text, Below Text, and Suffix Text to your dimensions. Likewise, you can format your dimension’s tolerance, unit precision, justification, centering or offset, and even add parentheses.
Finally, along the bottom of your Dimensions Palette there are multiple options regarding your saved dimension settings. For example, you can apply your default, most recent, and saved dimension settings, as well as import, export, save, and delete your current settings from your Favorite list.
So, I hope this post encourages you to take advantage of your Dimension Palette in DraftSight Professional!
