DraftSight Virtual Event Session Preview: DraftSight 101 for CAD Managers

This October 25-27 our team invites you to DraftSight VE, an entirely free virtual event. By attending DraftSight VE you will learn how you can propel all of your drafting, modeling, prototyping, manufacturing, and laser cutting needs forward with a robust 2D and 3D drafting environment. Sign up today to reserve your seat!

Here is a sneak preview of one of our most requested sessions, DraftSight 101 for CAD Managers.

Not everyone in the industry is a daily, hands-on user of their 2D CAD software. Join Johnathen Lieber, a Senior Specialist at GoEngineer, as he focuses on the CAD Manager and introduces them to the various ways they can easily manage their users’ DraftSight installations.

The Work Environment

Johnathen will lead you through how you can import your legacy custom menus and show you how easy it is to create your own. You’ll learn how to add, remove, or reorganize menu and interface elements.

Perhaps you’re a bit old school in your CAD approach, and you prefer the environment that consists of toolbars and pull-down menus. If so, you’ll be happy to know that DraftSight still gives you that option, and you get there in only two clicks of the mouse!

Managing your Data

The CAD Manager’s responsibilities differ from the drafter’s or designer’s. These end users just expect everything to work correctly. It’s the CAD Manager’s job to make sure that happens. They’re concerned with ensuring their projects run efficiently and that the data complies with the well-thought-out standards for the office.

One way to drive standardization is through block libraries. More and more, these libraries utilize a concept that you may have heard referred to as Dynamic Blocks®. Johnathen will demonstrate that they’ll continue to work as designed in DraftSight, and he’ll show you how easy it is to edit them and create your own Custom Blocks (as we call them) in DraftSight.

Another valuable tool for both the user and the Manager is called Design Resources. We’ll show you how to use this feature to import valuable drawing elements from other project drawings. It is a secret weapon (when you know how to use it)!

And, as any CAD Manager knows, it’s not just the individual files and elements within them that need managing – it’s the entire project as well. DraftSight makes that easy with the CAD Manager’s best friend, the Sheet Set Manager.

Johnathen will show you how to take control of your large projects with this built-in data management system. You’ll see how easy it is to gather and organize your project sheets, manage and apply their properties and data, standardize callout blocks, and apply print and plot settings to the entire project or to individual sub-sets or disciplines.

This class is a must for any CAD Manager who has questions about what they might face while migrating their existing standards and workflows to a new DraftSight environment.

When you sign up for DraftSight VE, you’ll see this session and many more that include demos, productivity tips, and tricks from DraftSight product experts and customers. Register now to reserve your ticket for DraftSight VE, October 25-27.
